On-the-Job Training (OJT Contract for Trainees)
Need to hire for a role but the perfect candidate requires specialized skills? An OJT contract can help you afford to train the right person.
Financial Incentive: The OJT program (operated through Goodwill Industries of Hawaii) pays up to 50% of the trainee’s wages during the specified training period.
The Agreement: You, the employer, agree to hire the individual permanently if they successfully complete the training.
The Benefit: Allows you to hire workers with less prior experience and train them to meet your specific business needs.
Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)
WOTC provides significant federal tax credit incentives for hiring individuals from target groups identified by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The Goal: Provides an opportunity for individuals facing employment barriers to find meaningful careers in Hawaii.
The Benefit: Reduces your federal tax liability when you hire from specific groups, like qualified veterans, long-term unemployed, or certain welfare recipients.
Federal Bonding Program
If you're considering hiring an "at-risk" job seeker, the Federal Bonding Program offers peace of mind.
The Service: Provides fidelity bonding insurance coverage for the first six months of employment at no cost to the employer.
The Benefit: This insurance protects the employer against potential loss due to employee theft, allowing you to confidently hire individuals who have difficulty securing jobs due to their past history (e.g., justice-involved individuals, recovering addicts, etc.).
